Sculpture of a mother, art director of the OMI studio: The Mother Monument is the image of thousands of mothers The masters of the OMI studio created a monument to the Mother, installed in the village of Staroye, Kyiv region. This is a partnership project, the implementation of which was made possible thanks to the participation of the Starovsky Village Council and public organizations “Patriot” and “Union of Anti-Corruption Experts.”
The Mother Monument is the only monument in Ukraine on which the image of a mother is presented without a child. The prototype of the monument was a resident of Old, Efrosinya Boyko, one of the first to build a hut on the site of this village.
“Despite the fact that the monument has a prototype, it is a collective image of thousands of mothers. The masters of the OMI studio put their feelings into it, all the warmth and tenderness that this word evokes in us. A mother is a woman for whom, at any age, you will be her child, in need of care and attention, who, no matter what, will love and wait for you home. The monument is made in the form of a woman who has adult children and sat down on a pebble in anticipation of their arrival during a break between household chores,” said Bogdan Kazachenko, art director of the OMI studio.
The monument is made of life-size composite and coated with bronze plating. The technique used by the masters of the OMI studio makes it possible to create inexpensive, durable and reliable sculptures that are resistant to atmospheric influences. And bronze spraying is a thin bronze layer, which, under the influence of precipitation, behaves in the same way as if the sculpture was made entirely of bronze.
