Gypsum columns

Masters of the OMI studio columns are made from gypsum.

Having decided that there will be columns in the structure of the building or in the interior of the room, no matter what function they serve, it is necessary to decide on the general style. Gypsum columns will most organically fit into an interior decorated in an antique or classic style. Proper use of columns also allows you to visually enlarge the space and divide the room into zones. They look more aesthetically pleasing and elegant than concrete ones, and in terms of functionality they are in no way inferior to stone columns. They are also much lighter in weight and easier to install.

A gypsum column is based on 3 components: body, base and capital. The individuality of the columns is given by the design of the component parts. Body – this is the trunk of the column, it can be smooth, grooved, engraved, or entwined with gypsum “vegetation”. Base – the lower part of the column, fastening to the foundation, which also takes on the function of distributing body pressure on the foundation. When decorating a base, the most important thing is not to lose its functionality. Specialists from the OMI studio in their work they rely on engineering calculations. Capital – the top decoration of a column that also receives and distributes the weight of the supported floor. Various molded and carved elements can be used here – curls, light figures, stylized leaves, ornaments and more.

The price of a gypsum column, due to the cheapness of the gypsum itself, is one of the most reasonable and affordable. At the same time, gypsum is a fireproof and environmentally friendly material.
