The masters of the OMI studio acted as the developers of the sketch of the mural - a project of the competition "Public Budget 2019"
The masters of the OMI studio, commissioned by the Strizhakov Municipal Bureau, took part in the development of a sketch of a large-scale image to be applied to the end of the building of the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum. The mural will occupy an area of 140 sq.m. The project is planned to be implemented within the framework of the “Public Budget 2019” competition: with the support of the idea by the townspeople of Kropyvnytskyi (formerly Kirovograd), it will be implemented for budget funds.
When developing the sketch, the masters of the OMI studio analyzed the building where it is planned to paint the mural, the area where it will be placed, and turned to the history and traditions of the city. The clear decision was to choose the style of painting the mural – classicism. The aesthetics of this direction attaches great importance to the social and educational function of art.
The main task of a muralist is to take care of public space. A mural is a large-scale image inscribed in the overall picture of the area, street, and houses of the city. Bright, colorful, often filled with philosophical meaning, large-scale paintings transform the gray and dull walls of buildings into works of art and become landmarks of the city.
Art director of the OMI studio Bogdan Kazachenko said that the customers were offered two options. In the first sketch, the emphasis was shifted to the location of the mural - the museum building. Every artist was once a child and learned to draw, dreaming of becoming great. No one knows how many future famous masters live in this city, whose works will be presented in museums around the world. Experts depicted a girl in the sketch, lifting the curtain of the future to depict the city of dreams.
“In the second, more attention is paid to the spirit, history and revival of the city. The image shows the “beregin of the city”, and the drawing itself is filled with philosophical meaning and symbols. The image was drawn based on numerous communications with townspeople, so everyone will be able to express their own interpretation of the image, and it will be correct,” noted Bogdan Kazachenko.
Bogdan Kazachenko said that to create murals, the masters of the OMI studio use fading-resistant acrylic paints. If properly cared for, a mural can delight citizens for many years.
