The masters of the OMI studio will make a monument to the Ukrainian “Hachiko” for free
Saint Bernard Lord is familiar to almost all residents of Chernomorsk (formerly Ilyichevsk) as a dog that has been waiting for its owner near the city clinic for more than 10 years. According to workers at the medical facility, Lord’s owner once worked at the clinic, and the dog accompanied and greeted him from work every day. One day the man never left the clinic, dying right at his workplace. All these years the dog continued to wait for its owner at the walls of the medical institution. The townspeople tried to find a new owner for St. Bernard, but he always returned to his post. They were not afraid of the lord; on the contrary, everyone admired him - he was an example of loyalty, nobility and good manners.
After Lord’s death, Odessa activists decided to perpetuate the memory of the Ukrainian “Hachiko” by erecting a monument near the clinic. They turned to the masters of the OMI studio with this request.
“The residents of Odessa called us with a request to take on the implementation of this project, honestly warning that there would not be much money. One of the goals of creating the public organization “OMI” is charitable activities: support for the implementation of socially important projects, helping people. All that remains is to raise funds for the materials, and we will make the monument for free,” said Bogdan Kazachenko, art director of the OMI studio.
Answering the question of what material the monument is planned to be made of, Bogdan Kazachenko emphasized that everything will depend on the amount of funds raised. Of course, it would be great to make it out of bronze. It would be an eternal monument like “Hachiko” - a symbol of faith, hope, love. It is also possible to use polyester resin with the addition of fiberglass, which is also a reliable and durable material.
The implementation of the project will take 2-3 months: fundraising, modeling of the sculpture itself, approval with the customer and casting itself.
