January 4, 2017 marked 25 years since the signing of the Joint Communiqué between Ukraine and the People's Republic of China, which recorded the intention of the two parties to develop full-scale relations. On this occasion, the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine organized a reception. Among the guests is Tan Zhongyan, a specialist from the Association of Masters of Arts of Ukraine, a representative of the OMI studio in China.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine, Mr. Du Wei, noted that the Chinese leadership, namely Chinese President Xi Jinping, has proposed a map of joint development with all adjacent states “One Belt” - One way". And Ukraine is one of the first sixty states to join the framework of this project. As part of this initiative, China and Ukraine signed cooperation agreements last year. Some projects have actually already started.
“I am glad that friendly relations have been established between the PRC and Ukraine since 1992, and today they are only getting stronger. Entrepreneurs from both countries are provided with full assistance in organizing joint activities, opening representative offices, and so on. A kind of public diplomacy, I am sure, brings our countries even closer together and allows the economies of China and Ukraine to develop,” emphasized the representative of the OMI studio in China.
Tang Zhongyan also spoke about the latest project, in which restorers from the Association of Art Masters of Ukraine took part. For a month, studio specialists were engaged in the restoration of exhibits from the Nanjing City Museum, located in Nanjing.
“The museum is filled with historical and cultural achievements, objects from excavations in Nanjing and demonstrates various stages of the development of China. Many of the museum’s exhibits are more than 3-4 thousand years old. They need periodic restoration so that more than one generation can study the history of China,” noted Tang Zhongyan.
Also, a representative of the OMI studio in China expressed confidence that an equally busy and interesting year awaits the OMI masters.
