In the spring of 2015, the masters of the OMI studio were involved in a large-scale project - the construction of the Atlantis water park in Yalta. In the park, specialists from the association of craftsmen created more than 1,000 square meters of stucco: letters, alley design, sculptures, walls, textures. It should be noted that some sculptures reached up to 15 meters in height.
When carrying out the work, a unique technique was used that came to Ukraine from Europe: polymer concrete was applied layer-by-layer to a mesh-lined metal frame. Each layer is modeled by a master in a short period of time, giving the material the desired image.
“In Ukraine, there are practically no specialists who know this equipment. When preparing the material, it is important to know the secret of the ratio of components. Hardened polymer concrete is similar to stone in its properties, so it is very important for the master not to miss the moment and complete all the planned work before hardening. And so layer by layer. Moreover, work periodically had to be performed at height, standing on scaffolding,” noted OMI studio foreman Alexander Parschin.
In addition, the masters of the OMI studio created a number of household items and decorations for the Atlantis water park. The peculiarity of these works was that initially the guys were given the task of creating “broken” jugs, allegedly found during excavations.
