The masters of the OMI studio made a memorial plaque to the military scientist, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Anton Vladimirovich Kulchitsky.
Anton Vladimirovich comes from the village of Zherebki, from an old noble family. In the post-war period, due to the nature of his service, the young military specialist was transferred to Balashikha, near Moscow, to the naval aviation department of the Aerodrome Research Institute of the Air Force. Kulchitsky was among the first to explore the high latitudes of the North Pole and determine the possibility of building take-off platforms on drifting ice floes. The outstanding military scientist died in 1977 at the age of 56 and was buried in Moscow at the Vagankovskoye cemetery.

His fellow countrymen contacted the OMI studio to perpetuate the memory of Anton Kulchitsky in the place where he came from. The memorial plaque, measuring 60x80 cm, is cast from bronze and is a graphic representation of objects with which Professor Kulchitsky was associated throughout his life.

Sharing his impressions of the execution of the order, art director of the OMI studio Bogdan Kazachenko noted that the memorial plaque is quite interesting in its design, both in appearance and in the history that is displayed on it surfaces. A simple village resident went through a difficult life path, starting from the defense of Leningrad, serving in a secret military institute and ending with the exploration of the North Pole.

“This is one of the express orders of this summer. The work was completed in 1 month. The customer was running out of deadlines, and he couldn’t wait 2 months – the usual deadline for fulfilling an order of this level. We have sufficient experience, qualified craftsmen and our own workshops, so we were able to meet the allotted deadline and did not let the customer down,” emphasized Bogdan Kazachenko.
