Modern Cossack Mamai: the first mural in Kropyvnytskyi was created by the OMI judge

A huge image of the Cossack Mamai, covering an area of more than 300 square meters, decorated the facade of a gray high-rise building in Kropyvnytskyi. The authors of the mural were artists from the OMI studio.

Paintings of the Cossack Mamai are a Ukrainian shrine, because for a long time the image of this Ukrainian knight stood in every hut next to the icons.

The facade of the building depicts the Cossack Mamai in an astronaut costume sitting on the surface of the moon - this is a modern Mamai, who remains the spiritual protector of the Ukrainian people.

The image of the astronaut was chosen for a reason, because the house where the image was created is located on Popov Street, where famous cosmonauts lived. This work is special for the artists of the OMI studio because it is the first mural in Kropyvnytskyi.

“In developed countries, murals have long been created to make drab houses more interesting. For us, this object in Kropyvnytskyi is a huge responsibility, because a real mural is being created here for the first time. - said the artistic director of the OMI studio Bogdan Kozachenko - The main thing is that local residents like our work - this will be the main reward for us.

A team of young and creative artists is working on the creation of the mural. Despite their youth, they are experienced artists who work professionally in any conditions.”

Three muralists from the “Association of Art Masters” of Ukraine worked on the giant image of the Cossack Mamai. The work was made with high-quality materials that are resistant to environmental factors, so the image will serve as a decoration for the city for many years to come. The scale of the image is impressive, because more than 35 liters of acrylic facade paints were spent on only half of the image.
