The sculptor of the OMI studio wants to erect a monument to Kuzma on Khreshchatyk

The sculptor of the OMI studio Bogdan Tsyupa wants to create a monument to Kuzma Scriabin in Kyiv. Kuzma was Bogdan’s idol. After the death of the rock musician in 2015, the guy created a clay sculpture in his honor. The love for art was passed down from my father.

"Sculpture is a way of my self-expression. I grew up listening to Kuzma's songs. His work is very close to me. Immediately after his death, I began to think about his image. I clearly decided for myself then. I saw it and at the beginning of summer I finished work on my sculpture "

The idea of ​​creating a monument appeared after a concert in memory of Kuzma. “I set myself the goal that the sculpture of Kuzma Scriabin would stand in the capital. As Kuzma himself said: “If you don’t have harmony, take the accordion in your hands and harmonize,” notes Bogdan Tsyupa.

The sculptor sees the musician’s simple everyday clothing as the main emphasis. A T-shirt and trousers, that’s what, according to Bogdan, Kuzma loved most. "At that time I saw his image as my man, as a friend. Without pathos. Without any note of any superiority. Therefore, I decided to do it in ordinary clothes, without jackets, without suits. He even once said that he doesn't like it. In one of the interviews, he even once threw away his jacket and said: “how I hate this.” And he also recalled how his mother gave him a suit and said that he would probably rot in the closet wearing it.”

Before taking on the project, I decided to take permission from Kuzma’s mother Olga Mikhailovna, who came to Kyiv.

"You know, I always have a positive attitude towards such initiatives. Of course, because this is my child. In a word, I would like there to be a memory of him, but there must be similarities, because in Lutsk they created dissimilarity, there is a whole petition already for that dissimilarity,” notes Olga Kuzmenko

Bogdan offered his mother two ideas regarding the location of the monument: a public garden on Gorky Street and a fountain near Passage on Khreshchatyk.

"Where to place it, how to place it - this is also a very big problem. But I know for sure that where Andrey will be, this is a place of happy people," Olga shared.

Olga Mikhailovna, in turn, submitted several ideas for planning the monument project.

"If we put him on the fountain, it will be warmer. I like him like this in our photo, smiling. I want him to be himself. This has always been the case" Good afternoon and there was a smile on your face! ". And if you put it so formally, then people will pass by."

Also, Olga said that she wants to see the angel Lelchik at Kuzma’s. The sculptor supported both ideas.

"He came up with that little angel himself, but apparently he didn’t have time to help him on February 2. He wanted to write fairy tales under his name."

The musician’s mother chose the photos on which the project will be based in the future.

"We take a photo from the last photo shoot. He has a song where he says: “You never know which photo will be your last in life.” - recalls Olga Kuzmenko.< /p>

The sculptor chose bronze as the material for the monument.

"At the final stage, I see my work in bronze, but this requires a lot of money," notes Bogdan

Bogdan plans to receive financial support from caring people. This is a forced step, because according to the sculptor, the state should allocate money for this.

"I really wouldn’t like people to allocate their money for this, I believe that the state should allocate money for such things. However, at the moment the main thing is that I received permission from Olga Mikhailovna, from Andrei’s family and I will do everything possible to bring my project to life.”
